Hi, I am the Jive Bunny.
When I was young, and an artist in Art College in the early seventies, life as we know it today was different. Rent was only a little above $100.00 a month, beer was $.25 a glass and food was much cheaper. I remember living on very little and working part-time in a bank to make ends meet as an Artist and to support a studio that was a must have.
Film-making was called experimental, as video had just came into existence.
Photo/ Electric included photography, film-making and video and computers are still the size of a room. I learned photography on a 120 Agfa camera that I borrowed from my father, a self -timer Agfa camera was found at a party; and the Desdemona photographs
were created with this Agfa camera with the self-timer.
I could not afford a 35MM camera at the time, I purchased a new Canon Super-8 sound camera in New York in 1977 and taught super 8 film-making as it was the newest medium. 16 MM and Super-8 Festivals were the rage and the Festival of Festivals was created in 1975; now it is called the Toronto International Film Festival.
When I was in New York in 1977, I met the producer of the Godfather and ended up drinking cognac overlooking times square while they were dubbing the Godfather in the other room. I also applied makeup for film and video, as an Artist, the face was just like a lumpy canvas. The Jive Bunny was a movie star in student productions, " Des comes to Toronto, and The Heartbreak Swinger," that did win a Scholarship for one of our filmmakers, Harvey Chow, who graduated in 1976 from O.C.A.D. University.
The Jive Bunny founded Jive Gallery 10 years ago and is now looking for a new location. This Gallery is dedicated to promote art and music and will rise from the ashes soon. So keep tuned in to the Jive Bunny Blogger for more news about what's going on. LOL J.B.
This is the beginning of many blogs from the Jive Bunny, how do I make money so I can keep on Blogging?
